  Community Speed Watch Scheme
The Parish Council has introduced a Community Speed Watch Scheme in partnership with Surrey Police

In broad terms the team is provided with a 'radar gun' to check traffic speed, and if a vehicle is recorded as
travelling in excess of the speed limit by 2mph plus 10% the registration number, colour of the vehicle and
make if possible, will be recorded and reported to the police.  Every motorist recorded is written to by the
police, and on the second offence the police will take further action: usually another letter or a visit
from a police officer.  On the third occasion, prosecution may occur.

This is an excellent opportunity to make our village more peaceful and very much safer.  Speeding traffic was
a key concern raised by parishioners in the Parish Plan.  Now there is a chance to do something about it.
The Parish Council seeks volunteers to be trained by Surrey Police.  It involves one evening's training at
Pippbrook.  Volunteers should contact the web master or the Clerk to the Parish Council,
  or editor@leigh-surrey.org
