| Community Speed Watch Scheme | |||||
| The Parish Council has introduced a Community Speed Watch Scheme in partnership with Surrey Police | |||||
| In broad terms the team is provided with a 'radar gun' to check traffic speed, and if a vehicle is recorded as | |||||
| travelling in excess of the speed limit by 2mph plus 10% the registration number, colour of the vehicle and | |||||
| make if possible, will be recorded and reported to the police. Every motorist recorded is written to by the | |||||
| police, and on the second offence the police will take further action: usually another letter or a visit | |||||
| from a police officer. On the third occasion, prosecution may occur. | |||||
| This is an excellent opportunity to make our village more peaceful and very much safer. Speeding traffic was | |||||
| a key concern raised by parishioners in the Parish Plan. Now there is a chance to do something about it. | |||||
| The Parish Council seeks volunteers to be trained by Surrey Police. It involves one evening's training at | |||||
| Pippbrook. Volunteers should contact the web master or the Clerk to the Parish Council, | |||||
| or editor@leigh-surrey.org | |||||
