About the Practice

Practice Profile
It is a five doctor practice based in a purpose-built surgery in Brockham, with a branch surgery in Newdigate, from where drugs are dispensed.  The rural practice covers an area of about 100 square miles, bounded by Dorking and Reigate in the north and Charlwood and Rusper in the south.

It is a training practice and offers a wide variety of services in a modern and friendly environment.

New Patients

The Surgery is pleased to accept any new patients living within the practice area.  The area covers within the boundaries of Reigate and Dorking to the north, extending to Capel, Rusper, Faygate, Ifield and Charlwood to the south.  This therefore includes North and South Holmwood, Beare Green, Newdigate, Betchworth, Leigh and Norwood Hill.  Check with either surgery to see if your address lies within the boundaries..  Patients are registered either at the Newdigate or at the Brockham surgery, depending on their address.  Patients' notes are kept at their registered surgery and, because the doctors and nurses can provide their best care with access to medical records, patients are asked to attend their surgery whenever possible.  All new patients are asked to attend for an initial health check with the practice nurse on registering.

Consultations
Consultations with the doctors and nurses are always by appointment only.  Appointments can be made by telephoning the Brockham surgery on 01737 843259 or the Newdigate surgery on 01306 631242.  Patients with urgent medical problems will always be seen on the same day by the duty doctor.  Appointments cannot be offered on the same day for social convenience.  Patients who feel that their medical problem requires a consultation on the day of making the appointment should let the surgery know.  If a patients are unable to keep appointments they should let the surgery know as soon as possible.

Emergencies
A doctor is available 24 hours of the day.  If the surgery is closed telephone 01737 843259 and the call will be transferred to the deputising service.  Along with the majority of East Surrey practices, the Thames Doc deputising service is used for out of hours cover.

Telephone Advice
If a patient requires to speak to a doctor over the telephone, then a telephone call to the surgery should be made between 11.00 and 11.30am.  The patient might then be asked to ring back later at a certain time.

Home visits
Other than for emergency, requests for home visits should be made before 10.30am.  Every effort should be made to get to the surgery.  Several patients can be seen in the time it takes for a doctor to make one home visit.

Repeat prescriptions
If on a repeat prescription this can be delivered or posted to the surgery, ticking the drugs required on the computer print-out.  If the prescription is to be returned, then a stamped addressed envelope must be enclosed.  Unless otherwise stated it will be assumed that the requests sent to Brockham should be forwarded to the chemist in Brockham for collection there, or, if sent to Newdigate the drugs will be prepared there.  Two working days should be allowed before collection of the drugs.

Results
These are delivered to the practice from the hospital in the afternoon.  For these telephone between 3pm - 5pm to the Brockham Surgery.

Confidentiality
Medical records are held in strict confidence.  Information is only passed on with your consent, within the confines of the NHS, by law, or of "in the public interest".  The practice is computerised and certain details of your medical records are kept on computer.  These are strictly confidential and the practice is registered within the terms of the Data Protection Act.

Disabled patients
Both surgeries have easy access for disabled patients and all consulting rooms are on the ground floor.  Both surgeries have a toilet specially designed for disabled patients.
