Fire at Leigh's recreation ground

While parents and children were clearing brambles and rubbish from the corner of the play area, there was a sudden shout from Paula: "FIRE!!", and she grabbed her mobile calling for the fire brigade.

Two fire engines came, one from Dorking and the other from Reigate.  The latter arrived first.  Something had combusted in the garage where the Cricket Club's equipment is kept, but it was soon brought under control.  Meanwhile, our 'Roving Reporter', Christine, rang the Web Master to get out there with his camera!

When the fire was cleared up, the Fire Engine gave the children fun.  They were shown how to use the hose (some of the firemen getting a near soaking) and were shown over the fire engine.
