Church yard gets a face lift
The annual cleaning up of the church yard took placed on Saturday 7 June
from 10.30 to midday, with ten volunteers equipped with all manner of tools
and machines.
As always, clearance is a matter of balance, and the policy is to make it
possible for visitors to reach the graves, and to keep some areas tidy.
Yet at the same time there is a need for conservation of wildlife and
plants by leaving wilder parts as they are.
Keeping the area around the wall of the church is especially important to
prevent damp penetrating the building (see the first two photographs).
Sue Frost brought over coffee, tea and biscuits for a welcome break at
11.15, and it was getting on for midday when the final load was placed on
Derek's tractor, and the team packed up.
