Leigh parishioner runs for PLAY and the British Heart Foundation

Mark Foulsham, who initiated and organises the Leigh Computer Club, ran in the Dorking 10 on 1 June.  He said:

"I completed the 10miles in 1hr 25mins (that’s 8½ minute miles). The weather was kind and the atmosphere jovial. There was a welcome shower down with a hose along Shellwood Road (not sure which house exactly – it could have been Bunts Place Farm). I was totally exhausted by the end as I hadn’t run that distance in about 15 years. I am very thankful for all those who contributed to the sponsorship – I raised £250 overall - £170 for the British Heart Foundation and £100 for PLAY."

The next Dorking 10 event will be on Sunday the 14th of June, 2009 - the weekend after the Epsom Derby. The race is held under UKA rules and incorporates the Surrey County 10 Mile Championships.

The Dorking 10 is one of the premier road races in the south of England, attracting over 700 entrants annually, many of whom have run the race previously. The race consists of a small single circuit within a larger outer loop through the rolling Surrey countryside and caters for runners of all abilities. There are numerous prizes for individuals and teams and in addition, there is a Fun Run before the main race for young people. Entry for the Fun Run is on the day.
