Talk on London gardens
The Leigh & District Cottage Garden Society had a talk in Leigh Village
Hall by Colin Jones on Gardens of London, describing with glorious
illustrations, the oldest gardens, the newest ones, some of the public
gardens and the key research gardens such as the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew
and the Chelsea Physic Garden.
He had many delightful anecdotes, one being the fact that one person is
responsible for producing the 12,000 geraniums for Buckingham Palace of
exactly the right red to match the guards at the Palace.
