The Leigh Summer Walk
Some 11 parishioners and one dog turned out for the Summer Walk on the
August Bank Holiday Monday. The event was organised by Chris and
Debs who prepared questions for the walkers to test powers of observation.
There were prizes for the winners and runners up at the half way point and
at the end.
The morning route, about 4km in length, took them from the Green, along
Clayhill Road, across to the recreation ground, and then over the
countryside to Brockham where there was a break for either a pub lunch or
a picnic. This gave an opportunity for new walkers to arrive for the
slightly longer walk home in the afternoon, and for some to leave for
other commitments. Finally, many of the walkers met for an
early evening barbecue.
