100 years ago was the Thirteenth Summer Show
The Thirteenth Leigh
Summer Show was held in 1907. The report in the Press said “If the season
had been as congenial for horticulture as last Wednesday was for a
horticultural show, and there had been no counter attraction, the
thirteenth annual exhibition of the Leigh and District Cottage Garden
Society would no doubt have been a great success.” The show was held in
”the grounds of Mrs Charrington’s beautiful residence, Burys Court, on the
lawn of which a garden party was again generously held in aid of the
Society”.
