Leigh Womens' Institute
The Leigh W.I. meets every second Monday of each month at 8pm in the Village Hall (Abbots Pass). Weekly talks range from ghosts to diamonds, to being a magistrate. Members also enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat.
Members come from Leigh and the surrounding villages, and the Institute operates largely as a 'social club', organising outings to local and London theatres, restaurants and an annual walk around the area ending with a meal either at the 'Local' or in our members' homes. While the meetings are 'women only', many of our social events extend to our family and partners. The Surrey Federation of W.I., to which Leigh W.I. belongs, organises many varied events: taster days in golf, abseiling, shooting, fly fishing, concerts, courses on a variety of subjects, and a great deal more. Anyone interested may come along one Monday, turning up at 8.0pm, or contact Judy Bartley on 01306 611472, who will be there to meet and introduce them to others. "We do not sing Jerusalem and we do not make jam. Nor are we taking our clothes off - yet!!!"
