The Leigh and District Cottage Garden Society

The Society was established in 1891. Its highlight each year is the Summer Show, normally held on a Saturday in late July, when there is all kinds of fun for young and old, as well as competitions in flowers, floral arrangements, pot plants, fruit and vegetables, home produce and many other traditional categories. Members of the Society are entitled to free admission to the marquee at the Summer Show.

From February to November, except August, there is normally at least one event a month.  Enquiries about membership (adults £4, children 25p) or becoming a Patron (at least £10 subscription) to Douglas Frost.

The generosity of the Patrons enables the Society members' free entry to all talks and visits to local gardens (with light refreshments).

Members benefit greatly from a discount of 10% at some local garden centres.

Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing: "Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade.
While better men than we go out and start their working lives
At grubbing weeds from gravel paths with broken dinner knives.
